Research
There was a lot of research that went into conceptualizing this app. It was important to me to understand other families' Alzheimer's journeys in addition to my family's to ensure that my design solution would solve the overarching problem, not just my own. With that said, my research phase was extensive and extremely insightful, shown in the presentation below.
As stated in the slides above, the key insight is that focusing on the emotional aspect of this journey is a resource that doesn’t yet exist. Allowing families to share positive moments and regain the spark they once had is more meaningful than ever.
These insights allowed me to make informed decisions when determining the features of my app, especially when differentiating each side of the app - family versus patient. Below shows the features on each side of the app along with one of the many quotes I collected that contributed to those decisions.
